My yoga journey began 2 years ago. I walked into a local yoga studio for my first real yoga class and loved it! I knew at that moment this is what I was meant to do.
I have always loved fitness classes, I taught aerobics for years and then went to teach Zumba. After all the impact over the years I found that I needed something less painful on my joints and knees. As a soccer player in high school I was hard on my knees and had to start being gentle with my body. Yoga continues to give me that.
I completed my 200 HR Yoga Fit Level 1 training in February 2015 with Yoga Fit. I continue my training with Yoga Fit.
Since then, I have volunteered at Willow (formerly Alternatives for Battered Woman) 2 two days a week. That experience has made me love yoga even more. For a couple hours a week these ladies have the time to find their peace and love in their hearts…it is truly amazing to help with that transformation.
I teach Yoga to veterans who are currently in a program where Yoga is mandatory. These veterans have traumatic injury both mentally and physically. Watching them as they settle in and find a little bit of peace while with me is something that is so amazing to witness…this is why I love yoga!
Vinyasa yoga, in which movement is synchronized to the breath, is a term that covers a broad range of yoga classes. This style is sometimes also called flow yoga, because of the smooth way that the poses run together and become like a dance. The breath acts as an anchor to the movement as you to flow from one pose to the next in time with an inhale or an exhale.
